The episode also features a young George Clooney as the elder detective’s younger partner. In the midst of the stakeout, Dorothy develops feelings for one of the detectives (Joseph Campanella). The girls’ house becomes home to a stakeout as police investigate Blanche’s new neighbors. And if you look closely, you’ll spot a young Quentin Tarantino as an Elvis impersonator. Gilford and Getty are an inspired pairing. Their sudden wedding excites everyone…except Dorothy. Arthur’s singing performances are lovely, but Blanche’s disastrous attempt to upstage her is one of the most hilarious moments of the series, as well as Rue McClanahan’s favorite scene.Īfter the death of a dear friend, Sophia shocks everyone by striking up a romance with her friend’s husband (Jack Gilford).
